Michael Simpson, (Mikey) born 1987 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, sadly passed away on the 16th September 2009 at St. Catherine’s Hospice, Scarborough.
Michael had been battling cancer since February of 2009 when he was first diagnosed
with testicular cancer. After many months of chemotherapy treatment it seemed Michael
would make a full recovery. It was a year of both sadness and hope, a year of extreme
emotion -
In his last months of life, never losing hope and never losing sight of his faith, Michael always remained optimistic. However his health started to deteriorate and he was admitted to hospital on many occasions. Tests revealed that the cancer had spread to his lungs and brain. Although doctors believed the cancer could be controlled and cured at this stage, this was never to be. Michael was rushed to hospital complaining of severe headaches and “flashing lights” in his eyes; he partially lost his sight which would never fully recover.
Arrangements were made for Michael and Lynsey to marry. Due to his health the wedding took place at St. James Hospital in September 2009. Everyone precious to Michael was at the wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony in such tragic circumstances as the day after he was married, doctors revealed he was terminally ill.
Michael was married for just 12 days when he died with his Mum and Lynsey at his bedside at Saint Catherine’s Hospice Scarborough.
God bless you Michael. You are in a better place now and in no more pain.
“We love you Brother, Son, Dad, Uncle, Husband and Friend. You will be in our hearts forever”.

P.S. How wonderful they were and how treasured they will remain all the years of fun we had growing up together.
